Who Will Fight Chris “Blvd” Brady?

August 18, 2011 – Los Angeles, CA & Reno, NV -  Shark Fights 18 in Reno Nevada is scheduled to kick off at 7PM on Friday, August 19, but Chris “Blvd” Brady is no longer on the card.  Four opponents were lined up and four opponents have backed out of fighting Brady in his professional debut fight.

“We are disappointed to say the least,” says Chris Reilly, Owner of LEGENDS MMA in Los Angeles who has been Brady’s coach and trainer for five years.  “Brady is ready to go.  He has trained hard and was prepared for this fight, both physically and mentally.  It is really disappointing to get all the way to weigh-ins and have the fourth challenger back out.”

“I just want to fight,” says Brady.  “I have been training and working towards this fight for months now, and it is too bad they have not been able to lock in a competitor that wants to fight me.  The integrity of the sport is diminished when athletes don’t follow through with their commitments.  I refuse to be one of those guys.  I will keep pressing on and train hard for the next one.”

This is not new for Chris Reilly, who has been training MMA fighters for over eight years.  Two of his other top athletes, Professional fighters Alan Jouban and Tuff-N-Uff Champion Eddie Jackson are finding it equally as hard to find other MMA fighters willing to step in the ring with them.  “We are training the next UFC champions here at LEGENDS MMA.  They work hard and are dedicated to the sport.  We are proud of our team and respect the integrity of the sport.  Brady will get his pro debut soon… we just have to find the competitors willing to take him on in the ring,” says Reilly.

After a successful amateur career that featured a 14-second knockout under the Tuff-N-Uff banner, Jouban made his professional debut at this past weekend’s Tachi Palace Fights 8 event. Facing Xtreme Couture’s Griffin, Jouban fired a perfectly timed knee into his opponent’s jaw during a takedown attempt and earned the stoppage just 15 seconds into the opening frame.

He is an American practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu who holds a second degree black belt under Jean-Jacques Machado. He is most famous for his win as a brown belt against Royler Gracie by triangle choke in the 2003 Abu Dhabi Submission Wrestling championships and his unique style of no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, called 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu.
